Sledgehammer! Steak hammer! Today, before the snow and the chocolate cake, let us enjoy the long overdue self-requested reload of the legend of B.G.K.'s hammers. I was hit by the B.G.K. train with the version of Arms Race on P.E.A.C.E., played it 10 times in a row, almost broke my neck. Now 26 years later, Nothing Can Go Wrogn! is still the unmovable hardcore classic that blew me away on day one. Yes, it is the Reign In Blood of hardcore. This record is a masterpiece that would have deserved as much mass reverence and praise as anything from the official punk stars from Poison Idea to Bad Brains (and of course it ridicules anything from Black Flag, but I digress, is it useful to insist on my non-fan-of-Black Flag status). I want to build a time machine and change the year 1988 so that B.G.K. do not split up and make more albums.
The AT discography CD has a misleading title, this disc is not a complete discography, three songs are missing: the last song (that gloomy semi ballad!) from Nothing Can Go Wrogn!, the song Nothing Can Go Wrong (not on the album) and the first rabid version of Computer Control that are featured on the compilations Viva Umkhonto! and Welcome To 1984. But this CD is a great remaster, especially of Jonestown Aloha! and White Male Dumbinance.
Speed, power, elegance, B.G.K.!

BGK

jonestown aloha + white male dumbinance + comp tracks, 1983/1984
nothing can go wrogn!, 1986
Zer! Zer! Zer! Lazer megazer! This is not just another classic band, this is one of the VERY FUCKING BEST things that have ever happened to hardcore worldwide and music in general. I bought the P.E.A.C.E. double comp LP in 84 or 85 and of course, I was floored by many, many bands here - this is the comp that made me discover GISM, Septic Death, ODFX, Wretched, CCM, Articles of Faith etc. so the bar is really, really high. But one track was standing out even higher than anything else on the comp, the ravaging "arms race" from BGK (version included in 1st rar). At the time I had already been a lot into satan via Venom, Slayer, Bathory, Hellhammer etc. but then BGK finally emerged in my discography as the true revelation of TOTALLY MALE MUSIC !!! AT LAST SOMETHING TRULY FAST AND HEAVY !!! From this day on I could only track down anything BGK would release. I am all excited by this nostalgia. What a hot era !!!
BGK play brutal, viciously thrashing hardcore - heavy as fuck like Discharge (check the hammering "white male dumbinance" ep) but faster than MDC and with top class musicians even to today's standards. This is mercilessly tight and masterfully toying with the dynamics of their insane intensity, darkness and speed. Technically they matched any of the bullet-belts/flying V knights of metal and had better arrangements and solos! Brilliant musicians playing the best hardcore catalog!!! BGK match Ludichrist, MDC, Raw Power, Rattus... ZER!!!! The 2nd album "nothing can go wrogn!" is the ultimate monster of ZERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! ! ! ! ! ! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! ! ! !!!!!!!!!!!!! BGK !!!!!!!!!!!!! ! ! ! !!!!!!!!
CD rip from the AT reissue. This CD does not contain the last song from "nothing" so I ripped it from my LP. I think the song from the "viva umkhonto" compilation is missing to make this a complete discography. I have this LP 5000 miles away, please wait.
UPDATE: Stogref DID rip Viva Umkhonto which contains the last BGK track!!! And now the BGK discography is available in its glorious and sleazy entirety - better than sex! ZERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! Merci Steph !!!
