This reincarnation does not feature any previous member of Carnivore, but they found a new Peter Steele who is really great, in sound and in ugliness (formerly from Sheer Terror). The trio is also decomposed of a former Crumbsuckers guitarist and a former Whiplash/Kreator drummer: Carnivore A.D. is serious radioactivity. We are entering the era of band dynasties. And this iteration is a great tumor that grows on the legacy of Carnivore & Retaliation in sound, style, power and disgust. Absolut stinking thrashing brilliance! The only flaw of this records is its length, and size matters: only four songs fill the ears and the heart of the true zerist. We could have sucked on thrice the size! I took the liberty to also include some of the Carnivore, CF, CCM, Verbal Abuse, Indigesti and Negazione live tapes that were previously posted, because I felt like it and because it makes a nice completion since several of these shows took place in the same venue (La Tannerie in Montélimar or Clef De Sol in Grenoble, France). I attended some of these shows (and the bands I used to be a member of opened for two of these: Scream - with Dave Grohl - and Negazione, zer & triplafuckingzer). Negazione posted for free download a long list of complete live shows on their bandcamp page, I am posting here the best sounding ones (they lifted the Montélimar gig from my previous post and added it to the page). Most of this stuff is purely for nostalgia purposes. The sound quality is generally very rough - audience recordings made with 80s tape decks LOL because no, there was no direct-to-WAV, self-compressing, self-limiting, distortion-eliminating $50 USB mini devices back then. CD was the new hot thing. To make your own live recording, you  had to bring your boombox to the show, or a walkman with a recorder function, and hope 1) you would be allowed to use it 2) nobody would walk or jump on it 3) the audience would not speak too much near the mic. You generally ended up with a super crap tape, but happy. Hopefully the tapes posted today are above shit quality and mostly distortion free, but still not everyday listening material. I therefore clearly heard my wise lazy self and did not took the pain & the time to name & tag most files. I also did not erase most of the band/audience interactions, sometimes for minutes (those Minor Threat boys sure were very verbose), so you have tracks that are purely crowd blurbs. And I did no do any Eq or compression of any processing of any kind. To complain, please fill 9 copies of the A38 form and mail them to me with your $44.50 processing fee. Then I`ll hire a panel of experts to decide the best course of action in your very favorite top-down democratic way. Until then, enjoy the noise! When I saw that record in the metal section of the local store, with green underwear on the cover, it blipped on my neuron. Underwear! Then I noticed the vicious black sticker stating "Ex-Carnivore" and that was it: I've always had to own anything even remotely connected to Carnivore. And Slow, Deep & Hard became the album of a lifetime. The level was blocked at 11, this was love to the level of Eisenvater, Primus, Bad Brains, Slayer, Victims Family and so on. The EZTT is not large eough. The degree of addiction to T.O.N. can be gauged by the the number of bootlegs I bought in that first decade of fanaticism. And yes, I bought a copy of the August 1995 issue of Playgirl (strictly for documentation purposes).  Musically, except October Rust that I find a little weak, the entire catalog is worth genuflection and awe. I could single out Dead Again as even greater than the post-Bloody Kisses releases. Family favorite, overzer forever hypraterrazer! Amen. On a blogish personal note, I've been hooked on Carnivore since forever because the first album is the best Venom record ever released, and Retaliation sits near the very top of Mount Classics of the crossover hardcore | thrash metal family (btw Agnostic Front's best Cause For Alarm features the Carnivore drummer). And then came the ultra monster Slow, Deep And Hard, which elevated the best of Carnivore to the power of excruciating doom! This record is high high high on the Eternal Top 10 ZerRrrrRrRRRRRRrr List, along with the fake live Origin Of The Feces. Did anyone else assemble with equivalent dexterity such potent grooves with almost dbeat thrashing through über catchy themes that you can't get out of your head for DECADES? All wrapped in immense and utterly ironic heaviness, so much zer at the same place... Other highlights in this discography are the following masterpieces Bloody Kisses and Dead Again, hypra fantastic releases of unbelievable class!!! All in all, Mr. Steele produced exactly the right music to mourn him, I don't see any better soundtrack for his funerals. And now, you die!
