Yes, at last the long time quest for Verbal Assault is complete. Needless to state again the density of classic zer that we have here. The early basic hardcore stuff (Learn) sounds a lot like early Uniform Choice, or Minor Threat. Good, good, good, but I've always been much more excited by the later, more mature releases: Trial, On etc. are simply fantastic records. They deliver this succulent haunting that comes with the slower paces and the more rocking metallic riffing that is not unlike Bad Brains' Quickness or Underdog. Infused with this cosmic Fugazi influence, they reach the Himalayan-height class of gigazer brilliance. Also, I need to underline that FOR ONCE this amazing music is not wasted by childish lyrics, unlike 99% of hardcore bands who can only regurgitate binary hippie slogans, the so-called "political lyrics" (basically: the rich are assholes and corporations suck - oh but I need a new smartphone). The 80s will always win!
NB: the 1st CD contains Trial, Tiny Giants, On and Exit. The other CD contains the Masses demo and Learn, obviously, not some reunion rerecordings, unfortunately.

Verbal Assault

trial + tiny giants + on + exit, USA 1987/1991
your choice live series, USA 1989 LINK REPAIRED
Verbal Assault were like a suicidal Bl'ast! in a Fugazi mood after a Bad Brains show: heavy hardcore with dark melodies and metallic riffing. It appears VA are sometimes regarded as an influence for the emo scene, but don't worry, this is just gossip, nothing like whining adolescent crap here, only one of the most solid dose of powerful and mature 80s rocking HC. Another piece of cult ZERRRRRRRR!!!!!
"More than music" is missing.
