| the coup de grace, 1990 the art of survival, 1995 Friends of the upper class of heavy metal, the Coup de Grace (not to be mistaken for the coup de bite) is really at the very top of the cream of the zer. The first album is a total classic piece of melodic heavy metal bordering on thrash metal, the kind that sticks to your brain like an elaborate mix of Death Angel and Mind Over Four. "The art of survival" goes for a more rocking sound and is also a complete masterpiece (except maybe for the ballad, arghhhhhh, ballads) in true 70s hard rock style (U.F.O. | Thin Lizzy, from whom they cover "it's only money") and 90s classic stuff like Faith No More. It's amazing how such an incredibly talented band with near perfect albums can remain so underground while Metallica... are Metallica.
