There is the subtle thrash metal vibe, of the "prog" sort if you wish, and then there is the high quality rocking metallic groove typical of the late 80s, early 90s. The music is an absolute delight and the superb vocals too, especially when you need a pause between two sessions of war metal. No cheese here, at the very least much less than in a Faith No More album, only great musicianship serving first class writing. The demos are a little rougher, the production on the album is totally excellent. You know it is a classic because everything has aged extremely well, absolutely relevant 30 years later - sound, style, delivery: eternal zeritude.
