Jouhou, 1997 CD Compilation Hydra Head Records - HH666-72 Reissue from 2004 Yet another ancient request finally zerred. Barbarian yet expert grindcore : get attacked by a dozen pitbulls in a million short sequences of textbook defenestration of early Napalm Death voracity. Jouhou features more evil riffs and a more menacing guitar sound than the other compilation. But... this is one of these bands with no bass guitar. How offensive! Gorilla Biscuits - Gorilla Biscuits, 1991 CD Reissue We Bite Records, We Bite Records - WE BITE 077CD, WB 077CD In 1988, GB were my favorite band for several months, I had even bought the shirt from their MRR ad. Brilliance and advance in the NYHC format! Then the LP came out and it was even more marvelous, although in a more melodic direction, it was almost a tribute to Dag Nasty. Masterpiece of rocking triplazer! Then my nirvana was reached when my band at the time had the opportunity to open for them (Chambéry 1989! Night of zer!). There is a strong correlation between short discographies and amazing level of greatness and GB confirmed the rule. Then some of them became Quicksand and it was another trip in the otherworldly dimension of musical bliss. Nostalgia and heavy happiness! 1990 CD Compilation Boner Records - BR23-2 02. Fearless Iranians From Hell - Foolish Americans, 1990 Vinyl LP Album Boner Records, Boner Records - BR23, BR23-1 AAR: for impenetrable reasons, the 2013 FIFH post missed the CD. You get the rip of this little marvel today, better than never and better than the vinyls. It contains a perfect rendition of the three classic albums in reverse chronological order. The monumental 7" is not included. I am also reloading the third LP because it was previously tagged with the image of the CD, which is very wrong. So, not a new rip, only tagged with a correct image of the actual LP (if you already have this rip, directly tagging the image into the files will have the same effect). I never got tired of FIFH, they've remained a personal favorite for 3 decades, hovering over the EZTT with constant pressure. The perfection of their discography is matched by a very few, like Bl'ast! with whom they share something in the rough sound and the riffage. Both bands only released three albums, did not have time to commit sonic suicide. Fucking amazing! The cream of 80s hardcore and crossover will never let us down! Let's have today the last two albums of that amazing dead hard rock band (I don't have the first two under the name of Flatbacker, if anyone would like to share...). Ezo is major league stuff with a lot less cheese and more heaviness than in their charts-longing US/Euro counterparts. Hint: I've always hated Guns'n'Roses, I love Ezo. There are connections with Loudness as the drummer and singer joined Loudness at one point (check out the amazing Loudness albums of the 90s). Also the sound of Ezo is not far from 80s Loudness material, and it largely surpasses the two Loudness albums with the American singer. Hard rocking greatness I say! Pull out the air guitar! Chain Of Strength - The One Thing That Still Holds True, 1989/1990 CD Compilation Revelation Records - Rev:10 Reissue from 1995 - Both EPs Requested, rezerred. It felt very appropriate to post this straight edge assertion after the entirely opposite mood of complete provocation, sex, drugs & rock'n'roll from Malignant Tumour. Chain Of Strength were one of those dead serious youth crew bands that blossomed in the 80s. Still not that bad all these years later, but I guess it is more a matter of nostalgia than anything. I think this is the last SxE name still in my collection (or do Insted and Minor Threat count?). In the caricature department, satanic metal has always been more fun and has aged much more gracefully than all this moral preaching. Yet Chain Of Strength still have some (strength) and several songs kick ass, especially the title track of the first EP. Remove brackets and unzip: [zer till death] !ZER Chain Of Strength ZER! |

Phobia - Sudden Death,
1987 Cassette EP Not On Label - none If my memories are not completely corroded, this demo was originally from Sudden Death from Lyon, but then released as Phobia from Grenoble after the two bands had merged. For the recording of their side of the split with Gruel, Phobia hired the drummer from CCM, but I don't think he plays on this demo. We get here four excellent crossover songs of straightforward manufacture and great energy. Thou shalt bang thy head! It's all heavy and crunchy, full of great riffage and poisonous mood not too far from Stolen Life from Rattus with the motor of Attitude. It is also a high trip down the nostalgia well as the first show of my first band was with Sudden Death and Phobia (Grenoble, Clef De Sol 1987!). So much noise all these centuries ago. Cheetah Chrome Motherfuckers - Live In SO.36, 1987 Vinyl LP Album Destiny Records - none More raw live massacre! Be prepared to be eaten alive by two audience tapes reproducing amazing performances from CCM at the top of their superpowers. At the peak of the highest volcano of the Zeriverse, CCM sit and laugh forever while throwing slabs of meat in all geneal directions. Giant chainsaws of destruction! Complete cannibalistic annihilation of anything that moves! CCM are still the most intense of bands, especially in live settings. My only experience dates back to 1987 and I am permanently scarred. It was a tornado of blood and screams. This is tape 2 (Montélimar). I had unfortunately missed the 1986 show in Grenoble, and hearing the recording I am all the more pissed. We must thank again Fred & Gérard (Bunker / Phobia) for setting up all these incredible shows (and for the formidable distro, and putting up with the incessant requests of young thrash bulimics). It is a great occasion to reload the deadly Live in SO36 record. It is not a new rip but a fix of all the tags - it was previously tagged with the information from Into The Void, sorry for this other fuck up, today you get the correct thing (including the official errors, like the wrong title of track B1).
