Forbidden - Green, 1996 CD Album      Pavement Music - 76962-32256-2 06. Forbidden - Omega Wave, 2010 CD Album      Nuclear Blast - NB 2576-2 Classic thrash metal! Forbidden were (are?) that kind of versatile entity that knows how to be heavy, catchy and crunchy at the same time while never selling out to any trend (outside thrash metal). Intensity, speed and melody: zer & rezer. If pressured by the taxonomy police, I would put them in the league of Flotsam & Jetsam | Lääz Rockit | Death Angel | Heathen. Their pristine discography bangs your head with class and energy - yes, on Green and Distortion too, do not listen to disgruntled purists who disapproved of the slight modernization of their sound in the 90s, these are two amazing albums. When in need of pure metal that rocks solid skulls while not obliterating the sound waves in war metal fashion, Forbidden is the perfect choice. Hard to pick a favorite, but if pressured by the ranking police, I would say Twisted Into Form and Omega Wave are two masterpieces that deserve to be played and replayed many times at 11. Critical Defiance - Misconception

01. Critical Defiance - Misconception, 2019 CD Album      Unspeakable Axe Records - UAR053 Chilean thrash murder! If you liked yesterday's Erosion reload, stay tuned. This CD is so exciting it is one of the zerrest highlights of my 2019. It explodes with fast, concise, aggressive thrash metal nurtured from solid 80s roots while delivering modern virtuosity and impact. This is bliss to the demanding thrashonaut. Critical Defiance draw from many influences but could be summarily described as an attack of Holy Moses | Erosion techno-thrash with expert twin guitars and superb arrangements of Acrophet level. Not reinventing the wheel but driving it fast and loud to the precise and final destination: the back of your skull. Killer triplazering thrashification of the zeriverse! Spirit Adrift - Divided By Darkness

01. Spirit Adrift - Divided By Darkness, 2019 CD Album      20 Buck Spin - SPIN115 I discovered this band with this third album of theirs and despite the silly artwork a large smile of satisfaction has occupied my face since. This is golden heavy metal of the doom sort in the vein of recent masters like Crypt Sermon or old ones like Solstice. If large metal with a propensity for slowness, a great deal of guitar work and haunting melodies is your thing, think no more and click. The whole thing is more original than this feeble attempt at a description suggests, partly thanks to the excellent singing that subtly differs from what you'd expect in this context and partly because even if Spirit Adrift do not slow down as much as Procession, King Goat or Fvneral Fvkk, they know how to create similarly addictive songs. Links to FLAC rips of the first two albums are of course very welcome. Remove brackets and unzip: [doomification of the metal] !ZER Spirit Adrift ZER!

United - Absurdity, 2018 CD Album      Spiritual Beast - IUCP-16292 NRAR with the latest release Absurdity. The remarks from the 2013 post still stand: large influences from Metallica in the early days, larger influences from Exodus and much increased heaviosity in the releases since Reload (LOL or was this an intended pun and farewell to the Gaytallica of the 90s?). Plain rocking thrash metal, then deadly aggressive thrash metal: heart-shaped fingers. Now the newest album Absurdity: contains killer songs BUT the disgraceful, artificial tone of the kick drum prevents the album to gain five stars like its savage predecessors. Computers are great, just don't abuse with sampling in your mix! Still a great album that shall break some necks and bang that head. United have been a staple of the Japanese thrash metal scene for almost four decades, and with Outrage they are the least Japanese-sounding entity of the lot. Is this why Gotsu Totsu Kotsu, Jurassic Jade, Yasha and many others are more exciting? Value is subjective, nobody can answer. Let's just blast the monster Tear Of Illusion one more time to be sure. Exploding thrashisation of the triplazering legends! Remove brackets and unzip: [thrashonauts] !ZER United ZER!
