guillotine - bring down the curtain, USA 1989 Unoriginal and probably too complex crossover with Melvins influences. For some reason (I enjoy being a snob ?), I love this record, like all the Alchemy Records releases, but be prepared not to be flabbergasted. Cool metallic hardcore nonetheless and ZER! CD rip. |

Knew these guys back in the day. Melvins was on the same label but not an influence at all. They started as a So Cal/UK style hardcore band in the early 80's and played with bands like Conflict (UK), then they discovered Thrash. The guitar player was super into Exodus, the drummer was super into Metallica (back when they ruled) and the bass player was a hippy guy who was into a ton of different stuff, he's the one that brings the non-metallic stuff into the sound and later joined a alternative band influenced by 60's pop (not sure how else to describe them) called The Sugarplastic that had attention for a minute in the 90's.
