The Grim - Getting Revenge In 'Merica,
1984 Vinyl 12" 33 ⅓ RPM Mini-Album Mystic Records - MLP MINI-01 02. The Grim - Face Of Betrayal, 1988 Vinyl LP Album Alchemy Records, Alchemy Records - CHEM 107, 06-07226 I bought the 2nd album because it was released by the almighty Alchemy Records, whose invincible legacy of Sacrilege BC, Clown Alley, Neurosis, Melvins et al. made subsequent releases mandatory blind buys. Face of Betrayal was indeed another success in the cold crossover department - heavy, dark, catchy with slowed-down Excel or C.O.C.'s Technocracy overtones and without losing that punk edge. Then I tracked down the first LP and was surprised by the rough punk style and sound of a Circle Jerks | Jerry's Kids hybrid. It is a minor US HC classic! And generally speaking, the Grim satisfies fans of Sacred Denial. Old school HC punk crossozer!!! Remove brackets and unzip: [revenge revenge revenge] !ZER The Grim ZER! |

ReplyDeleteHonestly, I wasn't expecting much... but this is pretty damn cool. thanks.
ReplyDeleteFace of Betrayal is great! Just bought the copy for myself. Catchy crossover with beautiful solos. Get it while you can!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant records, both (and the ep). They should've been more popular with my scene, but I was in Atlanta back then.
