Zer. Today this blog is 1 year old. On anniversary dates, numbers, statistics and performance reports are always welcome, so here are a few:

I am a romantic hater. The advertisement industry must choke on its own vomit. Everybody painfully, slowly dies gasping for recycled air and 1 PM's meeting on the 23rd floor is canceled.

Oh, yesterday I watched the Anvil movie. I am an avid Anvil fan, I love the records and I looooved this film, yet it is rather sad (the movie, not their excellent-to-amazing discography) so prepare the tissues. Best drama of the year! ZERRRRRR !R !R !R R! If you've played in small bands for crowds of 12 people for the past 25 years, watch this... no love story or slumdog millionaire shit can move you like that. I was 15 and I sold my 5 years old stamp collection to buy a dozen records by Océan, Holocaust, Satan... and "hard'n'heavy", "metal on metal" and the then brand new, immense maszerpiece "forged in fire" ! Zer ! Great day ! Stamps had become really dull. Nostalgia über alles.
There was this big show in Montreal a few years ago with Piledriver, Exciter and Anvil. Anvil buried everyone on the bill easy! Ultimate zer live performance from Anvil. Anvil rock and zer!

Watching this movie right after the Iron Maiden "flight 666" thing is rather odd. Same generation, same music style, very different outcome... In comparison the Iron Maiden movie is boring, too repetitive and just obese. Maybe it is too long for what it has to show and say. Much less interesting than "Metal: a Headbanger's journey".
Other than that, happy zer day. One finds stimulating articles on Wikipedia after an Anvil screening, long live shared knowledge!

Another gem I bought this week-end (zerxcellent digipak) and played 6 times in 2 days: the new Voivod "Infini" that you can dl from Classic Extreme Metal. IMHO "Infini" is simply a masterpiece, slightly better than the hypra excellent "Katorz" - the class of the musical plots of "dimension hatross" | "nothingface" with immense grooves and rocking amounts of zer. Much, much better than the weak alt|stoner s/t album of 2002. Less thrash than they used to (I love the Eric Forrest years too), more gloom of sonic elaborate wizardry and progressive groove - VOIVOD ZERRRRRRRRR!R!R!RR !R!! ! !!!!!!!! R! R! !RRRR R!R!R! R!R!R!R !R!!!R R! Be zer! Buy Infini now! Piggy RIP zer. death metal! So here finishes a vital wall of metal history that started for me when I bought "war and pain" just because of the evil artwork and song titles (I've always loved the blind-buying experience, still to this day, it's like a glory-hole but with a record, amazing except when you end up with some Earth Crisis) - FNAC Bellecour mai 1984 zer! Stark Raving Mad

amerika + mx (CD reissue), 1985 amerika + mx (vinyl rip 1) amerika + mx (vinyl rip 2) AH! Fast & loud 80s thrashcore in 30 seconds-to-1 minute long format!! Pounding and to the point classic thrash like early DRI mixed with late DKs, you know you need it. About the rips: the 1st is the CD reissue from Swedish label Just 4 Fun records, the other 2 are vinyl rips (one from a great blog - who cares? I think) from the 1st versions of the records, the other from my copy of the white vinyl Nuclear Blast reissue of 1988. For once, the CD reissue sucks, buy it only if you don't have any SRM record at all - you'd actually better search for the vinyls, the NB version is easy to find. What's wrong with the CD: 32 songs listed on booklet, 30 songs on CD (unzer for the expected 2 bonus!), and above all I don't know who did the master CD but this person deserves to spend the night with a donkey. Each song starts AND finishes with an unbelievable 5 seconds blank, which makes for a good 10 seconds of silence between songs. A really awful and tedious listening experience, especially with 15 seconds long thrashers. I edited each song and removed these blanks manually so you should enjoy the CD rip. Other than that this CD has a decent booklet with some bio, flyers and info. Anyway... TOTAL THRASHING ZERRRRRR!RRR!R !R !RR !!R!R!RR R!RR!R !!! R!R! ! ! ! ! PS: the songs are you sleeping/take a stand and s.o.s./bloodclot are actually combined on the cd version. the last 2 songs are new versions of chaos and mr. hardcore. Thanks for the precision, I must have been too stoned to notice...
