If you amp does not go to 11, you're gay. 21 Lucifers at once deserve at least an 11 for their 19 short killer blasts of grinding thrashing metal death spread over 21 tracks. Fucking fast, terribly intense, supremely catchy, perfectly delivered in craft and production: this underappreciated gem of metal should draw the intersection of the Inquisitor | Sodom on 45 | Dark Funeral fan base. This CD is a nonstop winner! Aaaarghh!!! A minor classic of recent times, a zerrific bomb of triplazering death thrashing headbanger hyprazseristicism! Its Scandinavian death metal heritage is obvious in the early material rendering the Entombed | Dismember | Morgoth sound with the voracity of Grave. This era culminated with the silver-backed monument entitled Submit. Oh yes, submit! With those vocals. Then the beast incorporated a great deal of melodic lines in a Carcass fashion, made the whole thing rock like hell and decorated that with some electronics. Very nicely done, extremely groovy, impossible not to headbang to! Heavy metal rocks to death! Polished and punishing! But this is something vastly different from the death'n'roll thing of the 90s: heavier, darker and leaning slightly more towards the gothness of Sentenced - under the mountains of fat. Retro is a cover album, and a great one, from Carcass to AC/DC. And since the last three or four albums, they heave returned to a more exclusively death metal sound and style, and everything rips.
