There is no weak spot in this crossover thrash indulgence. From the concupiscent D.R.I./Excel proposals to the Erosion/Agnostic Front steak hammer via Attitude's Jingo De Lunch orbit, every second of each release fulfills the 80s ape to the bone marrow. Out Of hand is the most aggressively amazing, a permanent staple on my playlist, and of course American Paranoia remains untouchable. Fans of Testament/Exodus/Machine Head might want to hear Chris Kontos rise to excellence. Adjustment til zer! I just noticed that the American paranoia CD reissue features the same artwork except for the swastika. But they kept the hammer and sickle. Ultra spiritual. I love the cover of Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues".
ReplyDeleteThe shortest distance between two points is a straight line, with infinite number of points on a line.
...Hank Williams Sr As Luke The Drifter...Eddie Cochran On The Air Summertime Blues...Syd Barret's Pink Floyd Piper At The Gates Of Dawn...Amebix Sonic Mass...something...nothing...2015...???
Woodchuck Pirate
aka Raymond J Raupers Jr USA
And Andy Andersen also did a Rose Tattoo cover band... long live rock'n'roll!
DeleteHoly mother of fuckin' mercy!! These posts about AA and AA-related stuff are just the pinacle of what you ever did. And almost everything I ever wanted. Had - and still have - some gaps in my collection though (live tapes, rehearsals and stuff). I am into AA since early '86, when their demo made its way over to Germany via tape trading ways. I actually met the guys when we played with them and LÄRM in Scherpenheuvel, Belgium back in late '87 (they already called themselves Attitude back then). Too bad they weren't actually nice folks, at least not all of them. We had a nasty debate about a fuckin' Marshall they didn't want to borrow to another band that was in need. So much about punk/hardcore attitude and helping each other. The bottom line was the guys running the gig just took it from them when they went to sleep, so the other band could play. They didn't watch the other bands, just slept and then came to play their headlining show. And they delivered, at least music-wise. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth, but what the hell. Guess you just can't always be nice, maybe they just had a bad day. My band did a couple AA covers back then, and guess what, we still do. ^^ Still so much fun to play that songs. Uh...one more thing before I am done writing...any chance you can make this really complete by adding the Condemned Attitude or even Condemned stuff also? Got the first demo, but nothing more and got the "Humanoid or Biomechanoid" LP from Condemned, but would love to get hands on the reissue/ compilation called "Condemned 2 Death". Nowhere to find in the net and I tried...really hard. ^^ Well, that's about it. Cheers from Germany!! PS: Added the URL to the flyer for that particular gig. Was fun playing there. https://smurfpunx.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/87-11-15-sharphill-attitude.jpg
ReplyDeleteSometimes meeting your heroes in person can be disappointing... Let's say the jet lag was too much for the boys. On a similar note, the Doughboys/Asexuals main guy was a true rock star asshole.
DeleteYou name it, bro. And yes...probably the jet lag was taking its toll. I made my peace with that episode anyways, actually it is quite a good story to tell and fun to remember. But as you pointed out, rock star-ish behavior often lurks where you wouldn't expect it in the first place. Anyways...you be cool and happy holidays!! To all of you out there...
