Nomeansno - Old, 2010 Vinyl, 12", Repress Wrong Records (2) - WRONG37 Let's start the new year with the extra big fanfare of NoMeansNo, as requested long ago. If I were a poet, I'd write a 999 lines long epic about the greatness of NoMeansNo, Canada's top sonic engineering and eternal owner of several seats at the Eternal Zer Top Ten. But as the regular primate, I will only submit to the invincible call of laziness and let you buy all their albums and be happy forever. You know the universe peeks at several points like Victims Family or Primus or NoMeansNo because very few other bands cover their songs. It's not unfeasible, so there must be a mystical reason, a sense of invisible-pink-unicornish respect and fear of not succeeding unless you're a Polish gang of drunks. Thank You for the NMN... when I was 18 I probably would have said that they were my favorite band. Along with Fugazi they helped bankroll every small town promoter/collective/scene in the days before Nirvana explosion. You could put on shows attended by ten people because once a year Nomeansno and Fugazi (and a little later NoFX) would come to town, pack the place out, and fill up the coffers for printing, hall rental, insurance etc. I was lucky enought to see them a good few times in Belfast and Dublin. I never thought that they were the same after Andy Kerr left, but the 'Sex Mad-Day Everything...-Small Parts...-Wrong' run was spectacular.
ReplyDeleteany chance of re-up of (at least some of) these? Only have Wrong, hard to find any others...
ReplyDeleteThis should be available at all times. Re-zer it, please. Really, please.
