Sodom - Decision Day , 2016 CD Album SPV, Steamhammer, Soyuz Music - SPV 270600 CD, SPV 270600 CD, SPV 270600 CD Sodomy and lust! In the dominant triumvirate of Classic Teutonic Thrash (natürlich with Destruction & Kreator), Sodom have always been my favorite, by far. The young ape that was me in 1984 had not experienced anything that evil! D.R.I. & Lärm were maybe faster, but Sodom were the zenith of all that is black and pulverizing - more than Venom, Hellhammer, Slayer and Bathory! Satan had finally founded a band himself! Outbreak of evil! I can't find a bad or boring album in the Sodom armory. Unstoppable worship of the whole thing! Except that strange Final Sign Of Evil re-recording that was worse than the original (could have written the 10% review - but I'll still accept a FLAC link! And I'll also accept a FLAC version of the alternate version of Obsessed By Cruelty). Favorites? Hard to say, but the megazer ultraclassic 80s releases aside, I am a total addict of Get What You Deserve and Code Red. So many bulldozing hammers & giant chainsaws! The live releases are all totally amazing too. Over time, Sodom came closer to the Slayer sound, but the albums from the past decade are way better than Repentless. The monster Decision Day buries it hands down. S.O.D.O.M.! Today, I'm only listening to Sodom and I dedicate the entire sodomania to the rodents who are rioting in the US because they do not like their new slave-master. Way to go, rodents! Destroy things, beat people up and show us how much peace, love, sharing & understanding you have, show the world how much love trumps fate! Remove brackets and unzip: [up your ass] !ZER Sodom ZER! |

Thanks for this , but what is the first "ignorance corruption" image ?
ReplyDeleteElections! And a panel from the In War & Pieces CD.
ReplyDeleteAUSGEBOMBT ,YOU BASTARDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteObsessed by cruelty I could never digest it seated unfinished between the terrific "In the sign.." and the almost perfect thrash sounding "Persecution...". But the perfect pair to "In the sign.." is Celtic Frost's "Morbid Tales" and Hirax "Hate, fear and power". This are the ones I still listen today. Kreator was a very, very good phase :) and Destruction, ... well,...they yelled too much.
ReplyDeleteOn another note I'm expecting Ministry to make another great album, he once stated that their best albums were when republicans were in power, well this time he´ll have a lot of substance to right about.
Yes, I initially hated Obsessed By Cruelty. It was certainly no match for Darkness Descends or To Mega Therion! But 30 years later, it is a lot of fun...
DeleteSodom blew me away when I first got the EP in early '85.. There was something different about them, and I had about everything there was to have at that time. In The Sign Of Evil is almost punk/HC sounding in it's brutal simplicity.. The next time I felt that same ass-kicking was Pleasure To Kill. Pummeled me into the asphalt.
ReplyDeleteDestruction far and away the best of the German thrashers. Perfect sound.
