Pungent Stench - Smut Kingdom, 2018 CD Album Dissonance Productions - DISS084CDD An obvious post after the Disharmonic Orchestra job. Pungent Stench, the other Austrian metal marvel, grab you by the neck (or elsewhere) and shove your head into their bottomless pit of sleazy thrashing death sludge and you ask for more. The split and the first album offer full satisfaction to Napalm Death | Terrorizer | Autopsy worshipers. They are the perfectly fast, greasy, unclean, meat-grinding sweatshops we all crave. The formidable Been Caught Buttering starts to incorporate more groove in the form of Carnivore | Entombed oil spillage - maybe my favorite triplazering release of the lot, a true force of beastly nature. The next two releases slow the business down into a death rock casket, not unlike what the swedeath scene would make a couple of years later. Then after their initial 1997 breakup, they came back with three marvelous albums where the death and the thrash overtook their rightful positions: on top! Less rock, more bulldozing. Ampeauty is my favorite of this second discography that comes loaded with added Celtic Frost genes into the mix, still with the Carnivore echo which the excellent last album Smut Kingdom (actually from 2007, only released this year) utilizes best. The only entry that can be safely ignored is that Heathen Scum rock album with the dude from the Mentors, rather flaccid from all angles. Other than that, Pungent Stench rip and slash and thrash til triplazer forever on top of the dome of the zeriverse of classic monstrosities! Two Hollenthon albums were also a great listen:

Thanks a lot for the Pungent stuff... really appreciated! I don't know if there are any requests for the artists on your blog, and for this my sincere apologies, but Disrupt seems to be the band that is largely unknown to the masses, so maybe....?
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Club Mondo Bizzare soothes my age crusted white trash redneck ears fer sure. John Lee Hooker must be smiling wherever he is. Don't forget to boogie!
