Grand noise terror! I am not a fan of Hate Eternal, and I am not a fan of the Dillinger Escape Plan. But when ex Hate Eternal members borrow from the D.E.P. method of ear-torture, we promptly sit down in awe.  The Gorguts-in-a-blender-with-LSD analogy might be more to the point. Gigan's complex-yet-digestible assemblage of multiple layers of death and madness is one unique phenomenon of cold joy and infinity. It is as wild as accurate, and as energetic as explosive. The wide beaches of ambient spacecrafts alternate quickly and slowly at the same time with the singular conflagrations of dissonant ultrariffs while the landscape drips with many fluids oozing from the unidentifiable specimen that listeners are turned into. This is even more awesome than Stephen Hawking's talking chair. Total death from triplazeristic grinding mind blowers! Gigantic masses of inescapable otherworldly air-waves compression! Grind til death!

I am so predictable that you saw it coming from 13 miles away, or at least since Sunday. Fugazi is one amazing band that put out my favorite relaxation music. I have always wondered why they were labeled "hardcore", although I find this taxonomy much more satisfying than the abominable term "emo". In their unique way of allying reggae-style grooves with the alt-rock vibe that could also be claimed by Shellac, only with much catchier melodies, they turn the brain into a well rested  place. The early, pre-1991 stuff is a little more abrasive than the rest but never as raw and wild as Minor Threat, and the whole lot is an amazing sonic experience. Their monumental influence can be detected in a trillion bands like the awesome Quicksand, this is how you spot a genuine artistic achievement. I could have ripped the vinyls for the first two 12" EPs, the 3 songs 7" and Repeater, but I have better things to do than rip stuff that sounds better on CD. Just enjoy this absolute classic mountain of Fugazerism! Long live the 90s!

Reminder: the NO RELOAD policy only applies to stuff posted after January 2012 (date of the Great File Sharing Holocaust). Ergo, since they were uploaded here in 2010, the request from a kind visitor for a Soothsayer refresh does not fall under the teleportation to 2505 law.
That being said, here come the very intense releases of Soothsayer, Canada's best mashup of Raw Power and Razor: fast blasts of killer thrash! Soothsayer take no prisoner during their harvest of the meat from your bones with their bare teeth. While this is high octane crossover with emphasis on the metal side, addicts to Screams From The Gutter will find plenty of reasons to enjoy the ride, especially on that terrific demo. Plenty! Saw them live a couple of years ago, they still seem active but no new album is announced as far as I know, too bad. There is no flat release here, nothing average either, everything rips! Canada's vicious thrash metal highlight! Thrash til you bleed from all orifices!

AABCDEFGHIJK! Eternal black sunshine of the spotless death! It seems appropriate to counterbalance the primitiveness of the previous post with the sophistication of the grand masters of death metal. No introduction necessary, this is the stuff of legends, and so on. Everything shines from exposure to the eternal black light of Morbid Angel and every meat melts under the pressure of the almighty riffs. I worship everything they have released. I am among the very few fans of the very much hated Illud album. I love it and all is well in the morbidverse! And the new Kingdoms is simply one of the best releases of 2017! Deathlleluyah!

02. Vasaeleth - All Uproarious Darkness, 2013 CD EP
     Profound Lore Records - PFL-121
From the pits of eternal moisture and damnation, please welcome Vasaeleth and its primitive sounds. This is only for fans of basic, raw, two-riffs caveman death metal. The first album sounds like an early Incantation test bench demo. Should we keep this riff ? And this one ? Let's play them four times together to check out how it all rolls out while I vomit in the microphone. The mini CD is not that much more advanced, but it has a slightly better production. Depending on your mood, this stuff can be irritating for its laziness, or fun for its peddling of cavernous barbarism. It does not feature the extremity of, say, Tetragrammacide (my new darlings), nor the heaviness of, say, Temple Of Void (my other new darlings). But despite these unkind comments, it still delivers sufficient competency in the dirty decibels department, like a very fast doom fest. And I like the artwork.

     Havoc Records - HC-1231
Dbeat aggression day! Skitsystem featured the singer of At The Gates but specialized in Discharge Noise Terror worship, the harsh way. Stigmata is maybe a little more "melodic". Fans of the second wave of Swedish crust cataclysm of the early Disfear and Wolfpack sort will totally enjoy Skitsystem, but they already know that. Very efficient, very raw, very merciless nervous system stress test! Crust mania till triplazer!
PS: a FLAC link to the 1st album is welcome.

According to Last.fm's bureau of statistics, Riot is the band I listened to the most in 2017. So let's hear what's in this almost four decades long output. There are a few black dots in this series - I have a hard time with the Rhett Forrester albums and the excessively cheesy Irishmore - but the main course - everything except 1982/1983 and Irishmore - is entirely awesome hard rock and speed metal, with a few layers of cheese in the form of ballads, you know, heavy metal ballads. But the rest was meant to become classic material. They could have made it to the front league with Judas Priest and Saxon and Iron Maiden. My most favorite is the victorious Immortal Soul - that one has a particular energy, the first song is simply the most exciting metal anthem on this side of the Zeriverse. Riot till the breaking of all necks and the banging of all heads! Riot in 2018 and a rocking new year!
