Then for the next three releases... they steered towards total thrash metal, to the level of Dark Angel and Sadus - this era culminated with the incredible Morbid Reality, an album the true thrasher cannot afford not to take in his desert-island emergency kit. Then nothing for a million years, and pouf, they reappeared in 2013 with a couple of amazing demos (featured on the superb Under The Spell/No Escape reissue) and the newest Wrath Of The Reaper. Cerebral Fix - Disaster Of Reality, 2016 CD Album      Xtreem Music - XM 217 CD Life in quarantine sucks and then you cough! Cerebral Fix were a great band geared with the filth of punk and the black blood of thrash metal. The first album is one of those great late-80s pieces of thrashcore: Attitude Adjustment at the speed of Electro Hippies with that S.O.D. flavor, lots of noisy bashing fun and primal moshing riffage. The following three albums sound bigger and cleaner, and also heavier and more sophisticated. The music there reminds of the plain crunchy bulldozing of the slower moments of Bolt Thrower, Deviated Instinct and Sacrilege, with maybe some Amebix, and of course some Celtic Frost - especially on Bastards. Death Erotica introduces some melodic arrangements (nothing alarming, rest assured) and the vocals maintain that crust punk rasp all over. Excellent crushing slow thrash with a doom edge! The 2016 comeback was a surprise and it came in a truck of nostalgia: Disaster revives the punk influences, to the level of caricature sometimes, with almost none of the metal nor the speed of the debut, but two covers from Discharge and The Exploited. Still more fun than an open casket funeral. Cerebral Fix may have not released some infinite classic album that started a subgenre and that must be worshiped by all zerists, but they have only great-to-excellent albums under their belt and deserve some room in any loud flacotheque. Having surfaced a few years after the big guns of the genre and during the death metal explosion, Acid Storm certainly did not get the attention nor the recognition they fully deserved with this greater than excellent, even if not very original, and technically proficient album. This is not mere imitation, it is a complete display of composition and execution skills that match the top acts of that scene, and the album is well produced. Very large replay potential!
