Not at all following the then-new trend of Dismembtombed, these thrashing Swedes were crossing over the UK thrash metal branch as in Re-Animator | Acid Reign. Always, natürlich, with a load of Slayer and true Metallica. The true 80s thrashosaurus picks both albums, and the completist also goes with the Bodyslam EP for its vibrant tribute to Cro-Mags, Bad Brains, S.O.D. and Venom. Thrash til motherthrashing zer! Sure, innovation is not on the menu, but why bother when you get so much defenestrating energy from start to finish? The Hater merciless thrash attack does remind of the Rose Rose sound of the mid 2000's (Neo Unknown, Cheaper Dream, Vooothzer) with a couple of Terrorizer riffs and raging, venomous female vocals that rival Détente and Misantropic - with the Japanese touch. While Göden put an end to the quest for perfect doom, Pharmacist deal in complete Carcass reincarnation, and more specifically the Symphonies Of Sickness period. From Japan, 30 years later, Pharmacist recycle again and augment that super-awesome mega-massive hypra-groovy goregrind attack to perfection! This is as brutal as it is catchy and disgustingly mesmerizing, the bones in your neck will go on strike while the ears will always demand more: addiction may occur. Now the regular zerists scratches his skull: the Carcass-cloning industry has produced a very large catalog that includes absolute winners like General Surgery or Exhumed, so wassup? The first EP has the traditional elements of everything you expect, plus more power and melodic enchantment than average. It was a great introduction and a promise for total greatness, which was eventually delivered on the two albums. If you skip a few segments here and there to test what this is all about, you might believe King Goat operate in the desolate crevasses of the likes of Candlemass Aeturnus, and you will raise two thumbs up. But the whole hands and feet need to be raised! Sure you will find classic doom metal references as in other contemporary doom masters like Procession or Spirit Adrift, but there seems to be a perpendicular dimension to the King Goat doomcraft. There is a lot of dynamics and progressive invasions of the aural conduits here. It is not all about crushing but also about hypnotizing and then sedating. The architecture is as impressive as the decoration. It is also about enchanting and funeralizing. The singer is one wizard of the throat that rivals all the Robert Lowes of this planet, who can also derail your nerves with pain. The pristine instrumentation and the superb production wrap up this pair of instant classics. Debt Of Aeons is surely one of the greatest recordings this side of the 21st century.
