Death, doom and death! Massive loads of death! Megaliths of doom! Finland always delivers the goods as far as death, doom and death are concerned. Purtenance have haunted the vaults and  the caves of the underground of death and doom for a long time, including a two decades long impersonation of death and doom, two decades of silence and immobility. This is dedication! Twenty years of death! None of its output shows any weakness, the resurrection is complete, the zombie walks with full teeth, it's like the coma made their sound stronger in Nietzschean fashion: death, doom and death are larger than ever! Purtenance are expert at the doom and death thing as if Grave and Paradise Lost circa 1990 had started a joint venture with a 2/3 and 1/3 participation. The speed and the crushing, the control in the barbarism, the grandiloquence and the heaviness make this discography more than great: it is a mandatory checkpoint for all disciples of the greatest death and doom. It is the black light at the nadir of the deepest pits! Unclean yet fully mastered, this is tar-saturated-neck-breaking-all-night-headbanging material! Hell yeah! Doom til death til zer!!!

Hard rocking heavy metal mania! One classic band delivers one classic hot rocking discography. Simple catchy songs with much energy and sweat and heat, that's what we need! The first four entries here are mandatory records in the league of early Anvil, Saxon and Twisted Sister. Just brilliant! The following are also excellent with an added heavy metal vibe - the 80s were rolling forward. The singer/guitarist is the cousin of Ronnie James Dio, what a family.
No, I do not have the very first album nor the last two. If you do, FLAC rip links are of course super welcome.

Long live international free trade! Fuck copyrights with chainsaws! The postman is my friend: today he delivered this wonderful package of illegal CDs. Cheers to Tributezz Records for quick shipment of zer! The classic Venom 1980 demo when they were a four piece entity comes in a simple yet superb packaging (and comes with nine 1981-1984 bonus tracks). Raw as hell! Zer as fuck! Venom fans want this. Likewise, the T.O.N. demo is a must-have for T.O.N. fans, it is also packaged with a fine booklet with great pics, and comes with two live bonus tracks, and an unreleased item. Zer! Carnizer! And the cherry on the cake: the GISM live disc from their 2016 gig at the Roadburn festival! The sound quality is raw, but much better than the tapes posted the day before yesterday. I guess it is a console mix recording. This CD has two songs more than the vinyl version, zer. GISM fans CANNOT bypass this one, it is basically Detestation live. Noise, filth and fury!

Innovation of Zer: I am posting this album while listening to it for the first time (I usually post stuff I've been listening to for a while and know well). But today a very kind member of the Zerbook provided us this great Japanese hardcore punk CD that sounds like a classic in the vein of Chainsaw, and I could not resist tagging it, so why not post it too. Enjoy the basic instincts of expert 90s Asian punk rockers! Awesome!

Welcome to the dusty post for the rear guard: here is a batch of live tapes of your favorite 80s punk rock & hardcore. I took the liberty to also include some of the Carnivore, CF, CCM, Verbal Abuse, Indigesti and Negazione live tapes that were previously posted, because I felt like it and because it makes a nice completion since several of these shows took place in the same venue (La Tannerie in Montélimar or Clef De Sol in Grenoble, France). I attended some of these shows (and the bands I used to be a member of opened for two of these: Scream - with Dave Grohl - and Negazione, zer & triplafuckingzer). Negazione posted for free download a long list of complete live shows on their bandcamp page, I am posting here the best sounding ones (they lifted the Montélimar gig from my previous post and added it to the page).
Most of this stuff is purely for nostalgia purposes. The sound quality is generally very rough - audience recordings made with 80s tape decks LOL because no, there was no direct-to-WAV, self-compressing, self-limiting, distortion-eliminating $50 USB mini devices back then. CD was the new hot thing. To make your own live recording, you  had to bring your boombox to the show, or a walkman with a recorder function, and hope 1) you would be allowed to use it 2) nobody would walk or jump on it 3) the audience would not speak too much near the mic. You generally ended up with a super crap tape, but happy.
Hopefully the tapes posted today are above shit quality and mostly distortion free, but still not everyday listening material. I therefore clearly heard my wise lazy self and did not took the pain & the time to name & tag most files. I also did not erase most of the band/audience interactions, sometimes for minutes (those Minor Threat boys sure were very verbose), so you have tracks that are purely crowd blurbs. And I did no do any Eq or compression of any processing of any kind. To complain, please fill 9 copies of the A38 form and mail them to me with your $44.50 processing fee. Then I`ll hire a panel of experts to decide the best course of action in your very favorite top-down democratic way.
Until then, enjoy the noise!

Sudden Death - Demo

Sudden Death - Sudden Death - 1987 01. Sudden Death - Sudden Death, 1987 Cassette Numbered
     Not On Label - none
This is a reload of the Phobia demo posted in 2016, but it is also not a reload. How can such an extraordinary claim be valid? Is it Schrödinger's post? Once upon a time in a decade far far away, there was a band from Lyon called Sudden Death, and there was a band from Grenoble called Phobia. Both played a variation of the crossover thrash metallist genre, and at one point, they merged as Phobia. Before the merge, Sudden Death had released the demo presented today (with Phobia's vocalist as guest). After the merge, the tape was re-released as Phobia with the title "Sudden Death". Today's post is a rip of the SD version, while the rip from 2016 was made from the Phobia version - two rips from two distinct tapes containing the same music. Completist enough? Zer?
If the above is wrong, correct me with the actual story. For those who haunted the 80's, the singer on this demo is Gérard M. who used to co-run the excellent Bunker records label, store & mail order, in whose general direction much of my personal funds were funneled for my best satisfaction.

Death! Death! MORE DEATH!!! And some doom. Requested: zerred.
The legend of Asphyx lives on, and like a fine tar, improves with time. The newest stuff is at least as heavy and as sick and as oppressive as the first, pre-2000 leg of their career. There is no bad release here, maybe one average title in the middle (I won't stool it) - only first grade death with doom and sludge and rotten meat between the cracks of death. Asphyx make the wettest of all wet dream for all fans of Possessed, Celtic Frost and of course early Pestilence. The bulldozing riffs act like the invincible force and the mega doom sections play the role of the unmovable mass. It is all black gold on an antifragile skeleton: the more you use it, the denser, heavier and stronger it gets: Asphyx rule as much as Autopsy and Grave. Asphyx, Autopsy and Grave hover forever the EZTT of Death Metal! And like Autopsy and Grave, the recent Asphyx releases are top notch FULL DEATH for DEATH'S SAKE! Do not stay stuck on the early classics! Timeless deathbanging forever megazer in all directions and back again!
