Requested, zerred exhumation of USDM from the 90s! If you were a fan of Brutality and Ripping Corpse, you also found great satisfaction with the thrashing death metal of Resurrection. Then they disappeared and 15 years later they resurfaced with a monster of an album - my favorite of the three - that is more thrash metal oriented than its ancestor, a mandatory stop for Dead Head and Hellwitch fans. The latest EP returns to death metal, still with the touch of thrash that makes the whole discography so headbangable. Not a lot of originality, but a load of passion, expertise in songwriting and execution, and a bulldozing energy that never diminishes. The Kiss and Iron Maiden covers were maybe not necessary. Other than that, get ready to smash your forehead in true zeristic form!

Metal warming is a threat to the survival of the cold blackness that we crave, we must fight metal warming! One tool of resistance is the dominating Polish scene, whence Outre hammer us with their sophisticated weapons. Polish black metal is the best brand in the zeriverse! Armed with the class and dissonance this scene is famous for, Outre unleash an exceptional battalion of that perfectly crafted alliance of maximum speed and a Voïvodian angle to killer riffs. War metal destroys you with their infernal fumes and monstrous avalanches of barbarian carpet bombing while Polish black metal in general and Outre in particular dissect you with precision tools before sending you into the grinder. Outre know how to brutalize with class and in a pristine environment of sonic clarity. That is the nuance. Both are addictive, your selection of crushing  now depends on the sought out vibe: need to get assaulted by rabid bombers of disgust and annihilation? Get some war metal. Need to have your suit & tie well ironed and your meat carefully separated from your skeleton before getting smashed to the ground? Listen to Outre! All hail Polish black metal! Slow crushing death! Warcrab tears you to pieces with its merciless claws and invincible groove, and eats everything, hair, bones & nails included. The dirge boils and freezes the meat at the same time, as if the slower parts of Bolt Thrower were having a threesome with Hellshock and the fourth album from Carcass under a giant dome of sophisticated doom sludge as delivered by the jaw-breaking Temple Of Void. Warcrab satisfies the basic instincts of the slow death metal maniac as well as those of the sludgecore addict and the doom metal disciple. It is the universal powerhouse for all apes serious about sonic heaviness and crunching beats. Drown in tar with a smile! NRAR. Requested and for the first time in FLAC from the Church: some of the most pissed-off hardcore thrash on the market. If you dig the roughest output from Attitude Adjustment (No More Mr Nice Guy!) and the sonic ravages of Deathtoll or Failure Face or Krigshot, your smile will not disappear (under your mask) until the end of the last second of Otophobia. No big surprises here, only that fast (and pissed, did I mention it?) assault on the aural tubes that sits on the fence between 80s thrashcore and grindcore. You've heard it before even if you never played an Otophobia release, but never mind: such in-your-face intensity deserves the full attention of any respectable hardcore fan. Black death matters! Brace yourself, put out the torch and enter the caverns of Diocletian! Their war metal orgy of distortion and blackness bangs heads against the walls of death and we all enjoy the frantic assault on the meat in the tradition of Blasphemy and Sadistik Exekution. From the contemporary cohort of war metallurgists, Diocletian is one major missile launcher. The fan of Malthusian, Impetuous Ritual, Teitanblood and of course Revenge cannot not ingest the entire Diocletian output, the doctor said you must. Slightly less obfuscated and oppressive than Impetuous Ritual, and slightly less distorted than Revenge, the general aesthetic of Diocletian leaves room for riffs to remember and generally more decipherable structures. But this is only relative - this is still WAR METAL! They're not talking the language of polished, computerized black metal with dramatic keyboards. They're not talking the magnificent, gut wrenching and tortuous Polish BM language either (my favorite branch with war metal), no, Diocletian manifest the extreme noise terror of maximum doom and destruction from slow crushing to extreme speed ravage. And they are among the best at it! If not sure about how much you would like to have your auditory canals raped, try Gesundrian first, it is their "most accessible" offering (especially in term of sound production). When I listen to Diocletian, so do my neighbors !

We all agree that black metal matters, but today we will focus on traditional heavy metal as performed in the 21st century. Fans of Angel Witch, Anvil, Satan, Saxon and generally the rougher side of NWOBHM and all the classic stuff of 1983, borderline speed metal, should click without hesitation. You will not find one ounce of originality here, and twelve tons of energy. You will not find endless solos nor brainfuck complexity, you will be headbanging nonstop with the heat and moisture of denim and leather. Night Demon perfectly resuscitate that cherished sound of ours, the dinosaurs of the 80s, they combine the drive of the basic ingredients and they deliver with a perfection that minimizes the cheese - they simply rock you to zerRrRrrrrrrrRRRrRRrrRrr! This is not just retro, it is fucking great! Even if you only visit the Church for the punk links, give that first 2013 EP a chance, the Motörizing might convince you, I was hooked before the first chorus. Bang that head!!!

As a vivid contrast to the previous celebration of doom, let us now indulge in the guilty pleasure of the totality of the black death. Fornicus is the deal. To just name three prongs in this voracious mouth, Impaled Nazarene, Dark Funeral and Archgoat frequently come to mind when blasting Fornicus (at 11, of course), who themselves are not Finnish nor Norwegian at all. The mysterious ways of the zeriverse. Of course, you shall find in the awesome Fornicus arsenal three dozen other influences and references from the great black metallurgy of the 90s. The essence of Fornicus is speed with catchy riffs and fabulous aggression.  It is all extremely well done - composition, execution and production, everything rocks. No real innovation, no new frontier explored, but 666% headbanging with passion and personality. Sometimes a purge with classic straight forward black metal is necessary when you're possessed by the twists and games of modern Polish black metal. All this blackness at once, oh yesssss! Black til zer! The density of the blackiverse within the zeriverse increases until nothing else matters! BLACK METAL MATTERS!

The Church was born 12 years ago today. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY shout all zerists around the globe and beyond. To celebrate, we must pay homage and submit to the eternal domination of the essence of heavy. It took 30 years to have a follow-up to one of 1990's best releases. Into Darkness did set a standard in the activity of crushing with decibels. It was like the most dense Celtic Frost sections extended and reworked to black hole levels. A better mix with guitars more upfront could have elevated this classic to Cathedral stardom. Now if you have not died in the interval, this is what you get in 2020: perfect sound production to chisel the most perfect doom conflagration you can dig out of any mass grave. Göden is the new moniker for the same task: flattening everything that moves, and everything that is already still. The Göden album is the most prefect machine of doom, the most monstrous release in the genre. Both killer albums from With The Dead cannot compete, together or separately - this is how floored I am. We've only been through half of that shit year, but I already know that the Göden album shall sit on the throne of my 2020 Top 10. Even that über killer Triptykon live release is no match, it will have to sit on position 2 or 3 of the Top 10, for Göden outdoes Celtic Frostykon in its own art of the mega-riff. On top of its ultra power as a groovy funeral doom panzer, Göden makes infectious songs that your neuron will chew on between two spins. Yes, catchy funerals exist, try it. Perfection of the mass death! Mastery of the black matter! Drink and dive into the blissful bottomless tar pits! Only Göden could provide the right soundtrack for the 12th year of existence of this blog. Funeral doom for the end of the world of 2020! Göden rules the zeriverse!

12 years of ZerRRRRrrRRRRrRrR!RRr!rR!rr!RR!RR!Rr!R!rrR!RrR!RR!!!
For the occasion, in case it was not clear, let us reiterate the sincere message of love from the Church: fuck the right, fuck the left, fuck the state with a radioactive jackhammer. Fuck all statists, fuck conservatives, fuck liberals, fuck minarchists, fuck socialists, fuck democrats, fuck all supporters of lockdowns and mandatory fofial diftanfing - you bunch of fascistic zombies, you glowing team of marxist apes, you extinguishers of civilization, you pathetic worms! THE CHURCH WISHES YOU A SLOW, HORRIBLE DEATH
