It took all these years, but yes we have an SNFU post! Pillar of 80s Canadian melodic hardcore! They used to give extra awesome, high energy live performances, so... DON'T MISS THEM TONIGHT!
I just wish there was no opening acts, especially not unbearable shit like La Gachette. There are so many great bands in Montreal and they booked La Gachette... There will be Jean-Michel Jarre and Téléphone on this blog before I post anything even remotely like that oï torture. If you see any oï here, it will be a clear symptom of aggravated brain damage: shoot me in the head.

Volcano - Melt - 2015 01. Volcano - Melt, 2015 CD Album
     Metallic Core - MC-007
ArgH! The new Volcano explodes now! Probably their best release to date, this masterpiece provides some thrashing speed metal of the finest sort. They are peaking with twin guitar auto-duels, intense riffing, rhythmic panzers, killer hooks, typically amazing vocals = addiction at all stages. High caliber Loudness with a Death Angel detonator!      Irate Faction Records - none
30 years old and not a wrinkle! The eternal hardcore classic comes back to Zer as fresh and hot as on day one, rocking as strongly as Crucifix and thrashing as intensely as Final Conflict. Unfortunately this record was a meteor in Canada's firmament and the band was never to come back. It makes it all the more legendary, doesn't it? It does.

Genöcide - Submit To Genöcide

Genocide - Submit To Genocide - 1987 01. Genocide - Submit To Genocide, 1987 Vinyl LP Album
     New Renaissance Records - NRR-30
It looks like a sleazy old school speed metal album in the Destructor vibe. But it's closer to sleazy old school hardcore of the Powertrip | Sudden Impact variety. Not a truly groundbreaking crossover record, but not everyone can be Ludichrist, nor Crumbsuckers. Yet this submission to Genöcide is still very pleasing almost 30 years later and rocks as hell!

The logical follow-p to a Negative FX post is of course the Slapshot catalog. I just noticed there was a new 2014 album, we'll do without for today. Slapshot are of course less over the top than Negative FX and more into the Negative Approach vibe: excellency in controlled energy and groove. Besides the legendary Back On The Map, my favorites are Live In SO36 (feel the sweat) and Unconsciousness (that raw Albini production). But all these albums are great - Boston hardcore forever rezerred!

Absolute death and thrashing to the bone! Sadistic Intent flatten your meat and chew on your teeth from somewhere between early & rawer Sadus and Morbid Angel, with a layer of UK thrashcore (Heresy!). This is the ultimate old school deathgasm, fast as a shark and heavy as a bulldozer in the black sky of Eternal Zer Top Death. The new record has the slower and sludgier mood of the Autopsy | Darkthrone sort (with an appropriate cover). Amazing rezer. These guys have also performed Possessed shows with Jeff Becerra (and there is an awesome cover of The Exorcist on Resurrection). Triplacult megazer of the steak hammer rabid thrashing death!

I am back from the Montreal Hare Krishna fest. For years I have been trying to have people tell me about the soul, and the spirit. But noone was ever able to give an intelligent, or at least intelligible explanation. However these things seem to be hot items and the new age, awareness, otherworldly movement seems to know what's it's all about (you, know, the energy and all that). But nobody has ever been able to tell me anything about it. So today I took the Krishna opportunity to talk to a specialist, and I found one at the reincarnation booth (no kidding, there is a reincarnation booth, with a trio of bald guys taking questions). I spoke 70 minutes with the boss. It was a lot of fun. No better than the 2 hours chat I had in February with a professional Jehovah witness (although this dude had not given me any food, while the Krishnas will feed you a large plate of delicious veggies). But I progressed a bit, here is how the soul works according to Mr Krishna: the soul is an eternal entity (energy!) that emanates from God (aka the eternal source of everything). There is an infinite number of souls. The soul has no other function or purpose than enjoying the love of God and serving him (which is strange since God is all-powerful, therefore does not need servants, zer?). Sometimes, as it may happen in a loving marriage or in cow's head that always eats grass from the same field (that were the analogies I was given), the soul gets to wonder how fun it would be to try something else (than the love of God). Then, the soul dives to the material world, selects a father and attaches itself to a sperm (I had no patience to ask how this works). When the sperm fertilizes an egg, the soul inhabits the baby  and lives a human life (or a rabbit life, or a sharktopus life), until the body dies. Then the soul goes back to the spiritual world and tries again (dives into another sperm), until it matures and understands that material life is bullshit. There is nothing better than the love of God and serving him (doing what?). That cycle can be a long, tedious process, especially if you consider the unbelievable waste of sperm that occurs on our planet (I only have two kids and have no intention to procreate more: billions of souls have wasted and will waste their time with me alone - multiply that by the billions of males - fucking genocidal sodomites). The non-fertilizer sperms die and their freed souls start over. Many other questions received funny answers at the same level of baseless, clueless blabber (what about asexual procreation, plants vs. animals: the only difference is the ownership of a nervous system - why is a nervous system needed to the soul - it contradicts the sperm scenario since a sperm is just a cell, what about mushrooms, mono-cellulars, why bother at all with finding the light during our material life since the soul being eternal, it will eventually find its peace with the next bodies and let me just live my heavy metal life, etc,).
The best of it will be used in a forthcoming story. I actually learned one thing for real, that all that is a synonymous to nothing, which is the difference our world would experience without any of this supernatural fantasy.
This is the perfect occasion to reload the two excellent Krishna-core releases of Both Worlds, a super group involving famous NYHC people (from Leeway, Agnostic Front, singer of Cro-Mags, etc.). This stuff rocks and is pretty much a continuation of the last Leeway album with a touch of early Quicksand and a teardrop of Shelter (of course). Much better than 108, in the Krishna vibe. Classy, groovy, catchy, heavy, zer!
I have to find and talk to a buddhist.

Happy zerday! 7 years ago, the first upload surfaced on the Church Of Zer, and it was Warning, Therefore it is a formidable idea to reload the 3 albums of the eternal staple of French hard rock. The second album is one of the best heavy metal albums ever released, I am still floored. I worship it as much as early Judas Priest! And almost as much as Raven. It originally came out with a pair of 3D glasses because yes! like Jaws 3, the rooster and the logo were 3D! Rock 'til you drop! Fist in the air! Speede-moi!

     Relapse Records - RR7186
Primate is one of those things that involve rock stars in their leisure time (here we got Kevin Sharp, some dude from Mastodon and guys from Otophobia). The resulting record is pretty solid and offers of potent mixture of rocking crust thrash and a touch of grind. If you're into the last two Disfear albums with added blastbeats and a couple of maidenesque guitar lines over heavy motörheadbanging, that's for you. At least, it is for me!

And to conclude our Larry Lalonde trilogy, not Blind Illusion (already posted), rather the super kings of cheese and far beyond! I had no idea what Primus was when I saw that Frizzle Fry LP. But I needed to like this record because of the artwork. The record store guy told me it sounded somehow like Victims Family, which turned out to be not very true except for the musicianship and the acidity - so I bought it. I love blind dates. And upon the first spin, I was POSSESSED! Ultra bright shining star in Eternal Zer Galaxy! 25 years of love and worship! Except of course the Brown Album, and the newest Chocolate CD, which I find no interest in. Ah well. It does not diminish the fantastic and eternal suprazerness of all the other releases. Among the bootlegs, Madhouse is the best sounding piece. PRIMUS & MUNSTER FOREVER EVERYWHERE!
PS: the Videoplasty VHS rip is arbitrarily split in 10 tracks, but the entire thing should be in there.
