Requested, rezerred. Basic hardcore punk thrash, short-fuse songs, anger, snot, noise. TN are as subtle as a pack of bulldozers and it is as refreshing as a Sick Of It All / The Exploited hybrid. The level of originality is around 0.023, but we're not using TN to visit the realms of musical exploration and experiments, we need them to get our recurrent fix of 2 chords ear bashing. Done. This is all I have, do not ask for other TN recordings.

PS again: more reload requests for stuff posted after January 2012 are being sent in my general direction. The answer is still no. Dead links will remain dead until I post the entirety of my collection, which will take several more years. Sometimes I will repost albums in a different format (mostly LP rips for dead posts which were only featuring the CD rips - these will be tagged as not-really-a-reload).
RTFM.

02. Various Artists - Phobia / Gruel, 1989 Jungle Hop International - JHI 109, Compilation Contains 12 songs by: Gruel, Phobia
Gruel played almost strange hardcore that sounds like a rocking mixture of Government Issue and Hüsker Dü, and it even has a flavor of Doom (the Japanese marvel, not the UK Discharge subtract). Gruel offer an excellent listening experience full of crisp melodies and heavy dynamics. Gruel rule!
Note about Phobia: this is not the US grindcore band but the French crossover act lead by Gérard from NegFX & Bunker Records, the legendary heaven of French hardcore records gluttons. CCM's drummer recorded Phobia's drum tracks on this split LP.

Complete thrashihilation of the megazer! I am reloading this with enormous joy. Asschapel mince your meat with the vicious efficiency of the large teeth of their merciless thrash metal. The two 7" and the Total Worship mini album are first grade rocking old-style-yet-not-retro thrash, but Fire And Destruction is yet on another level of ultimate zerness. The universe ranks it between the Accüsed and Holy Terror and we stand there in awe, blood flowing out of our ears. A true thrashterpiece! Another mighty TK post, because we never have enough. I had forgotten to post the very evil Unkind 7", the smoking 1990 piece of deadly crossover, so here it is. The Propaganda CD is another gem compiling the early very fast and abrasive and plain super killer TK material, let's bleed in a bucket. Then there are 2 live records: Tornio Blues is a 23 songs rehearsal compilation that includes several covers, punkest recording!!! And the Pissaa thing is an amazing live disc fully saturated with all the classic earslaughter and much better sounding than the Discharge live records. MEGA ARMAGGEDDON ZEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRR !! 1986 was another grand noisy year: Cryptic Slaughter, Lärm... Repulsion! I am not sure of what the experts say, but if Repulsion were not the original grindcore band, then Adam and Eve were Spanish. Of course at this time, the term grindcore was not in use already, since it was coined by John Peel a year or two later. So Repulsion were thrashcore. Let's be taxonomically correct. On the emotive response level, whatever the term, this stuff was the wet dream of the thrashhead, and it still is nearly 30 years later. Faster, dirtier, meaner and louder! If you were a large consumer of Siege, Septic Death, S.O.B. and the Scandinavian noise makers, you could only eternally fall for Repulsion. Thrash attack til zer forever!

Among the eternal pillars of US punk rock, let us digest the early layer of Hüsker Dü, the initial monster. Land Speed Record is an amazing noise train and Metal Circus has several hits. For the fans of the Articles Of Faith branch of US HC, this is the book of Genesis. After 1983 they became a bit too mellow for my young Discharge | Venom addicted self and I never took the time to catch up. I may very well like it now, let me check, even if Sugar was never my thing. Meanwhile, these 3 releases rock our heads until we lose a vertebra.

I've been asked what about the links to books on this blog. Simple: it's my blog, I put whatever I want on it, and I love books, so I proselytize the ones I am reading (the good ones). I don't read the news, I read books. And it appears that nobody should read the news, what a happy coincidence. This list of book links does not evolve quickly because I do not read enough and I read several book simultaneously, so progress is pretty slow. I started the New Testament a few weeks ago, but I'm not putting this one on the list, it's too fucking awful. What a shameful waste of paper, but it's OK to read on the toilet. It's actually pretty funny.
I read books because I believe they make me think. Then I reread them, that's why I buy instead of borrowing them from the library. I love to be immersed for long periods of time in the tunnel of a single topic. As an elitist asshole, I have difficulties to take seriously opinions built upon plain feelings, news articles and "messages" from songs, novels or movies. Especially the noise from the infamous "alternative media". If corporate news weren't already bad and incompetent enough, there is now an increasing tide of pollution from these "independent" apes who'd do us all a favor playing with their feces instead. Whatever, boycott it all. Read a book. Amen.
BTW Montrealers who love books should take advantage of the 50% closing sale at the downtown Chapters library. There is going to be an underwear shop in its place. 2505 is nearer everyday.
And now, let us get in touch with the spirit of rock!

Nobody expects the speed metal inquisition! One of the hottest zerrest years was 1985 and Amnesty is one of the reasons why. At the pinnacle of the peak of the highest altitudes of the zerrest of speed metal, there were Hallows Eve, Exciter, Abattoir and Zoetrope and 7500 others, but especially Zoetrope, who were in the classic trio of bands whose singer is also the drummer or vice-versa (Warfare, Exciter, Zoetrope, zer!). Amnesty is an addictive attack of rocking crispiness and catchy loads of street metal. It's boiling with energy, memorable hooks and burning execution. It's as sweet as it is rough. It is a gift from the universe to itself. Master thing to bang a head to! My unconditional love for this record has transformed into eternal worship considering it has aged perfectly and leaves nothing to the retro trend. Life of crime delivers a similar array of crunchy tunes, while Mind over splatter is sort of colder and meaner, but Amnesty remains the top of the top (and the CD reissue contains older demos, more zer). Classic albums, killer Zoetrope forever and rezer!!!

Welcome to 1987! The time masheen strikes back and brings us the new releases from these ancient bands, and it's all great or awesome. Raw Power return with a superb onslaught of classic hardcore by a brand new lineup (young guys with Mauro), in my opinion better than the previous album and anything they have released for the past 15 years. However, do not expect Screams from the gutter, Wop hour or, what I was led to believe by the marketing, the maximizer Mine to kill. This is the new Raw Power, fast, loud, punk and shining with impeccable production, maybe too impeccable for its own good as some of the songs could be NoFx with Lemmy... but no Mine to kill level crossover thrash. Enjoy the new Raw Power, it is better than great. In the category of double bands (Tank, Cro-Mags etc. who exist in two distinct concurrent forms who use the same name & logo), the metal English Dogs are back with this marvelous speed metal attack. I haven't heard the new release by the punk English Dogs, but I doubt it can compete with this beast with two heads. So here we get the Forward into battle lineup putting out an intermediary between Forward and Where legend began. Metal constructions with the British punk layer, not as intense as Forward, but more subtle and musically more advanced. Another extra great piece of work. Black metallists rejoice with the new Mayhem monster, except for true black metallists (read some of the expert reviews and have a good laugh). As a little poser who loves everything they released after the Deathcrush disaster, including the monumental Grand declaration of war, I find Esoteric warfare larger than grand, brilliant, awesome and killer: it's fast and doomy, tortured and black, evil and hypnotic like Ordo ad chao with better production. Zer. The experts can continue to mutually explore their anal cavities while I get my daily fix of new untrue Mayhem. Satan overwhelms and commands! And now, you mosh: the newest Rose Rose is another crossover bomb and I can`t believe I have waited so many months to get it. But the privately owned intercontinental systems of communication, music retail, remote payment and motored delivery finally materialized a copy of this awesome CD on my office desk and my satisfaction punctured the roof. This album is a touch better than the previous one, I am impressed. I think Cheaper dream or Neo unknwon trance slayers were maybe a little hotter, but I'm not sure. Rose Rose are among the bands who age very well, and actually improve like a great Scotch whisky. Awesome thrashanese killer zer! And last but not least, the greatest piece of this lot, the new fucking Gargoyle!!! To me the best and the worst of Gargoyle are separated by a very tiny interval, it is very difficult to select a favorite release, but Geshiki firmly sits somewhere in the top 3 of their massive discography. Here they outdo their last three albums or so. This is decade wide peak-level Gargoyle. This is pure Gargoyle-sounding metal thrashing mastery and perfection! This is complete gargoylogasm!!!

Zer factor to 11! On "Insomnia", Misantropic revive the holy glory of the legend of "Behind the realms of madness", in composition, sound and power. Since this masterpiece is among the highest monuments in Eternel Zer Top Ten City's Thrash Plaza, "Insomnia" is now sacred too and enthroned as the official Sacrilege fountain of youth. The split 7" is great too, but no super powered female vocals there. The new split LP is superb and magnificent, but according to the careful study in our laboratories, "Insomnia" remains the strongest avalanche of the lot and the most potent delivery of unlimited stamina. Our laboratories have rarely been as excited by a new band, "Insomnia" is the most massive source of compression/release of the past half-decade, Golers level. It is like unreleased energy free at last, you can feel the entropy shrinking and crying to mama. Impenetrable thrash that no blasting grind can overpower! All hail Misantropic!
