The voivodish metal background appears here and there, but my narrow music styles scope knowledge forbids me to tag other influences. All I know is that Israelvis make first class music that fits low winter temperatures, and have a band name that sits right in the top 3 of all monikers in the universe. Cold fresh meat from Japan: a few early Boris releases. This is the heavier and noisier part of their impressive catalog. The culmination in Flood is of legendary status. Amplifier is a true Lysol-era Melvins worship tank. Altar is another gigantic plague of droning doom and slow, deadly pop. Absolutego is the complete 90s arch-disto-drone attack. The World LP is the 1987 Funhouse reissue. It would be easy to get into another "it was better in the past" rant, but I won't, except that hardcore was better in the 80s :-))) Seriously, these two albums still rock so much I am feeling my teeth. Distortion X - Split B.S.G, 1988 Split LP Sonic - SONIC 004 1/2 Distortion X was a strange and amazing band. El Topo delivers some dark metallized hardcore while their side of the split with the hypra-jacquelinesque B.S.G. is a unique sludge/metal attack that I could never really compare to anything else. Burning Witch with speed metal riffs in a Cronenberg movie? Venom at the dentist's? Me against my compilator? It's incredibly great and zer to the power of megazer. I took a train and slept in the woods to see Distortion X and Stand To Fall, it was a great idea. That split LP is a major classic with the most perfect artwork.
