Ground Zero

01. Ground Zero - Gate Of Death, 1987 CD EP Remastered      King Records - KICS-2605      Reissue from 2009 Thrash 'til zer! Japanese thrash metal always sits on the higher thrones of the Church, and this time we pray to Ground Zero, who sound a lot like early Sacrifice, very early Gastunk sometimes, late Ghoul at other times, only faster. We are definitely in 80s compact thrash attack territory. Rather standard and not overly original but in your face no-nonsense thrash aggression, get ready to get bombed and blasted! This excellently remastered reissue includes the three more melodic songs from the Etherealize EP and the live song from the split flexi with Jurassic Jade. Two more songs on the Skull Thrash Zone compilation. Triplazering zerification of the skin-ripping thrashiverse! Remove brackets and unzip: [thrashanizer] !ZER Ground Zero ZER!

Goatburner

01. Goatburner - Extreme Conditions, 2019 CD Album      Obliteration Records - ORCD 149 Massive grinding sludge avalanche from Japan! Ancient monster death metal carpet bombing of the aural conduits! Fans of Anatomia and Coffins with blasts need to stop everything and jump on Goatburner. If you enjoyed that recent Mudlark repost, do not bypass Goatburner either. Discover foundations of Celtic Frost, Asphyx, Repulsion and Cathedral, then visit the immense first floor that is large and ominous enough to host the live burning any group of politicians and their supporters. Yeah, this is the perfect soundtrack for today's funeral - Canada is having a federal election to renew the Justin, I hope everybody dies in slow pain, especially the voters. Fuck democracy thrice in its ass with a giant chainsaw and fuck everyone that supports it, that oily bunch of fucking maggot and leeches. We get here a merciless onslaught of early Slayer-based thrash metal with the fiercest Dark Angel and Blood Feast aggressions, arranged around a lot of Destruction riffs from 1984. The surviving  80s thrashonaut will not discover any new thing here, there is not a single original part in this discography, but the largest of smiles will not leave his fat face before the very end of the last song. This really is the wet dream of any serious thrash metal addict: fast, loud and with no detour to anything superfluous, no stupid intros, ballads or interludes that would detract from the aggression, just PERFECT THRASH IN YOUR FUCKIN FACE! The Skull - The Endless Road Turns Dark, 2018 CD Album      Tee Pee Records - TPE-205-2 Among the largest pillars of  the doomiverse, there is Trouble and The Skull. Their slow motion rendering of a Black Sabbath | Dio | 70s Judas Priest hybridization is one of the eternal marvels of the heavy metal greenhouse. No true disciple of doom is allowed to not worship Trouble and The Skull: from the classic 80s albums to the perfection in The Distortion Field and in the releases by The Skull, everything rocks and crushes with infinite class.  The mid-career incursions into heavy or stoner rock territory are also great successes, there is not a single bad, nor even average album, it is all gold. The power of Candlemass meets the cold darkness of Cirith Ungol and the ominous psychedelia of Pentagram in one giant slab of doomification of the zerrest. All hail Trouble and The Skull for the decades of largest beauty in heavy armor! Major awe of the rocking doom in the triplazering bowels of the zeriverse! RIP Eric Wagner.
