Let us get flattened by the mountain of Cathedral. Everyone knows the story, Napalm Death singer leaves grindcore galaxy and enters doom dominion, and then we die. At the crossroads of classic doom (the Forest monument) and bulldozing sludge (the incredible Endtyme that almost goes as far as the ecstatic black hole of Teeth of Lions), Cathedral know how to bend your skull. They also know how to melt thy neuron and steal your heart with the formidable progressions and inventions on the albums after the heavy VIIth Coming. Prog-doom and 70s condensation? The farewell Last Spire is one awesome combination of everything they did with a lot of gravity and added blackness. Another classic! I was not too fond of the stoner direction of the late 90s, anyone is welcome to forward links to FLACs of the two missing albums. So, they're dead & buried, but already sort of reincarnated into With The Dead and its fabulous planet-shattering offering of more crushing doom.
