Sad sludge into vast doom! Those who enjoy their slow with echoes of Paradise Lost at the speed of EyeHateGod shall distill the first two Lurk albums with utter satisfaction. The heaviness is not barbaric but carries a sense of elaboration and melody not unlike Eagle Twin that pull them out of the mere sludge segment and into the zeriverse. Two releases above excellent. Now, the new album is on yet another level of greatness. Lurk have now matured into a musical beast of panoramic doom and have enhanced the whole game from writing to execution to artwork so well that Fringe definitely enters the 2018 Top Ten of Zer. This is one masterpiece of non-funeral sophisticated doom for the serious disciple of the large. Enough words, play it loud! Love Lurk!

  1. Indeed great stuff, Kinda funny Zer posts this on the day I order 'Fringe' ;-) Transcending Obscurity is an interesting label peddling both proficient but kinda middle-of-the-road extreme metal (if you like quality Bolt Thrower and Entombed knock offs you can load your bags over there) and stuff with much more character like this. Last year they released Jupiterian, people into Lurk will definitely like that too. Another interesting DOOM release on TO is Altar Of Betelgeuze, they combine raw DOOM/Death with straigh-up grooving stoner DOOM. It's a pretty infectious record to my ears and although not super original when it comes to the raw materials, the reacted product is pretty peerless if you ask me...

    1. Indeed! Got both Jupiterian and both AoB with the Lurk. Amazing package! DOOM!

    2. Yeah DOOM I always tend to gravitate back to the slow, low, thundering cavernous stuff. Have you heard Kabaalh de France? Not groundbreaking but pas moins earthshattering if you like that dirty Coffins/ (old) Asphyx vibe

    3. Nope, Kabaalh remains unkown to these ears. Coffins / Asphyx: you know how to stimulate a dinosaur. Let me try to find some, thanks for the tip.
