Let's rock! But first let's be honest: my teenage self bought their 80s album (while my old self just torrent-downloaded the newest release) because the music was sure ok but first because it was a female band, an infrequent item then. So yes, the music rocks, this is basic 80s hard rock trying to put our a radio hit. The next obvious question is: is this as great as Girlschool, the other female band of similar stature and style then? Certainly not! While Girlschool had at least one killer, motörizing album - the monster Hit And Run, Rock Goddess were content with the slow paced basics of radio hard rock with big choruses. It is more AC/DC with a little less intensity than even the first Anvil or any Raven. And certainly not Priest, Maiden or Saxon. There are still great catchy songs and memorable fist-in-the-air moments. The truly annoying thing is the lyrics. What with these tedious love songs for fuck's sake? Headbang on that? Fuck! That 87 "lost album" even has keyboards. And then they disappeared when the speed metal took over, and then they reappeared over 30 years later with another solid rock album, as if only 6 months had passed.
They still can do it! A very pleasant trip back to the golden 80s.
