Voïvod - Target Earth, 2013 CD Album Century Media - 8961-2 From the very depths of zer... VOÏVOD!!! Requested, zerred. In 1984 I was browsing the stock in the records section of a national store (FNAC Belllecour!) during one of my monthly trips to the city. There was nothing I knew or was expecting, but I had to buy at least two records otherwise the trip would be wasted, so I took a chance with War And Pain: it was on Metal Blade, there were songs about nuclear war and the artwork was disturbing (I heard someone say "I'm not taking this, it looks nazi, look at the helmet!", so I took it). Back home, played the thing and almost collapsed in a climax of disbelief. This thing was insanely powerful and killer, more evil than Venom, darker than Slayer, heavier than Destruction! UNBELIEVABLE! I spent the next year drawing the Voïvod logo on the classrooms tables. No Angel Rat, didn't like then, forgot about it later. The Eric Forest section is then probably my favourite after the first-five-albums perfection of the discography. The return albums since 2003 are good to great, more rocking but not as vicious as the almost-black metal attacks of the Forest albums - Phobos is one piece of hell. And the To The Death demo reissue must not be missed! No-one rips like Voïvod! THE IRON GANG WILL NEVER RUST! VOÏVOD UNTIL THE FINAL DISSOLUTION OF THE ZERIVERSE!
