Chain Of Strength - The One Thing That Still Holds True, 1989/1990 CD Compilation Revelation Records - Rev:10 Reissue from 1995 - Both EPs Requested, rezerred. It felt very appropriate to post this straight edge assertion after the entirely opposite mood of complete provocation, sex, drugs & rock'n'roll from Malignant Tumour. Chain Of Strength were one of those dead serious youth crew bands that blossomed in the 80s. Still not that bad all these years later, but I guess it is more a matter of nostalgia than anything. I think this is the last SxE name still in my collection (or do Insted and Minor Threat count?). In the caricature department, satanic metal has always been more fun and has aged much more gracefully than all this moral preaching. Yet Chain Of Strength still have some (strength) and several songs kick ass, especially the title track of the first EP. Remove brackets and unzip: [zer till death] !ZER Chain Of Strength ZER! |

ReplyDeletethe boy scouts of hardcore used to be real groundbreaking rebels when they introduced abstinence or PMA in early 80's, a real pro-brain revolution don't you think? more punk than sid vicious indeed. later on of course they can just fuck off and die, but sometimes still find some good fast music like this
ReplyDeleteYes the 80s SxE dudes were the punks of punks, they provided a provocative bowl of fresh air in the scene. But (there is always a "but") they were inefficient, the lyrics were just too ridiculous, just like with the political bands. I guess this is why most of them dropped it when they turned 20.
