Uriah Heep - Living The Dream, 2018 CD Album Irond - IROND CD 18-1938 UH! An excursion on classic hard rock planet is always fun. Basically, if you don't like Deep Purple or the sound of the 70s, don't bother. I am a super fan of all the early records, a wise alliance of heavy riffs with prog extensions, infectious choruses and general excellence & variations in the song writing, from basic radio-friendly architectures to epic constructions, always rocking. The 80s segment in their discography is less brilliant, offering good albums (Abominog, Raging Silence) alternating with hard to swallow pieces of whoredom (Conquest, Head First: much too diabetic). The 90s start with the meh Different World, another entry that can be bypassed for the amount of cheese that surrounds the good songs, but from then on it is only gold and silver. The excellent Sea Of Light and the classic Sonic Origami announce the next decade of brilliance - since Sea Of Light, no bad song, just solid rocking energy and general greatness. Not only are the studio albums since Wake The Sleeper just amazing and addictive, but the numerous live releases are also top class classic heavy rock that displaces anything Deep Purple have done since 1980 to the bottom of the barrel (I am a DP fan). The newest Living The Dream is just an incredible goldmine of dangerously catchy songs. Once inside, can't extract then from the neuron. Such longevity is worthy of praise, but such longevity while still being constantly relevant and maintaining the level of amazing is a Gold Medal of Zer. Loooooooooooooooong live Uriah Heep until the end of the rockiverse! Remove brackets and unzip: [heep purple] !ZER Uriah Heep ZER! |

Hey I've always been interested in this band. Where would be a good place to start? The catalog is so massive.
ReplyDeleteI would suggest one of the first four albums, and then one of the last four, and any of the live recordings.
DeleteThe title track from Wake The Sleeper is a high water mark for me.
Thanks I'll Let you know
