If it were not for the speed metal explosion and Metallica (who opened for them), Armored Saint could have hit the arenas of the world. But they were not harsh enough for the new thrash metal scene, too heavy for the lipstick of the expanding glam scene, and too late after Iron Maiden and Saxon. This does not reduce the quality of their output that has the style and greatness of the likes of Metal Church and Flotsam & Jetsam. In the 90s, their sound incorporated something of the Mind Over Four | Soundgarden approach. Upon their return in 2000, they released fantastic albums that mature that hybridization of metal and more radio-friendly rock, and I totally love it all.
