01. Blind Illusion - The Sane Asylum, 1988 CD Metal Mind Productions - MASS CD DG 1095 As advertised in all the zines, Larry Lalonde plays guitar in Blind Illusion, so as a true Possessed disciple, I blindly buy The Sane Asylum. After the initial disappointment of getting melodic thrash metal instead of brutalizing Seven Churches death metal, I let it gather dust until the sunny day of 1990 when I buy the invincible Frizzle Fry and notice these are the Blind Illusion dudes, Lalonde and Les Claypool. So I play The Sane Asylum again and I've loved it ever since. What an adventure! LP not rippable, too many cracks, so you get the excellent MM CD reissue. No I have not heard the 2010 album, the reviews do not make it too appealing... !ZER Blind Illusion ZER! Remove brackets and unzip: [Frizzer fry] |

Thanks for this. Every late 80s thrash album cover brings back record shop memories... Saturday afternoon pre-drinking meeting spot - front of punk/hardcore/thrash section...then walk through city centre en masse to park, bag of records in one hand, bag of beer in the other...
ReplyDeleteand then the long debates about how Sodom were faster than Venom, or Lärm than Septic Death...
