Civilised Society? - Violence Sucks !,
1987 Vinyl LP Album Manic Ears Records, Manic Ears Records, Manic Ears Records - ACHE SIX, ACHE 6, Ache 6 It looks like metal, or at least like a crossover sibling of the Concrete Sox category, but it really is typical 80s UK punk rock of the Crass sort, only much better (I hate Crass), well except for the vocals, argh those dreadful vocals. I don't know where my copy of Scrap Metal is, I may have sold it, so no rip today. Not a super fan of these records anyway, although Violence Sucks has the light charm of the homework of young punks who enjoyed Kill'Em All and try to incorporate some speed metal riffing into their songs. But curb your enthusiasm, it lands very very far from the invincible crossover of Attitude Adjustment or Crumbsuckers. And despite the promising artwork, it is not a contender to the thrones of Septic Death or Rattus either. Remove brackets and unzip: [statism sucks] !ZER Civilised Society? ZER! |

I agree WholeHeartedly with your review, Sir Zer. There were a half dozen or so Crash (Crass/Thrash) bands doing their thing in the UK mid 80's time-frame... I bought all of the LP's at one point or another and most didn't survive in the collection very long... Just a matter of taste and not my thing, plenty of friends love it, to each their own.. There's worse ways to spend a hurricane doused afternoon.

Deletehahaha spooky, i cant believe youve posted this now, years ago i downloaded this and scrap metal in flac but this one was left on the seedbox which has recently been vacated, although i didnt grab everything off it first, including this album :( so gratefully recieved, great band, so were the Instigators. I had the great pleasure of having Hammy stay at my house with the rest of Sore throat back in the late 80s, that was....interesting lol
