After the blatant ones, here comes the singular Yob. It is a massive beast that produces large slabs of slow music that can crush and hypnotize under the rule of great doom bordering on amazing with a gentle avalanche of sludge and some sadness in the singing. Yob could be said to remind of the heaviest parts of Goatsnake, or venturing in Cathedral territory - almost Burning Witch at times - with very different vocals, but they never go Candlemass-doom metal nor Skepticism-funeral nor Temple Of Void-doom-death, they do Yob, and it rocks! Slowly, but it rocks, even if it cannot be tagged stoner rock. They indeed have developed their own sound, it delivers a pleasing experience to rest the neuron and the aural conduits. I do not know which album is my favorite, probably The Illusion Of Motion for the mundane reason it is the first that I bought. Trivia: their singer does the vocals in the infinitely awesome Vhöl.

  1. Yes, YOB, moi j'aime beaucoup!
