Tankard - One Foot In The Grave, 2017 CD Album, CD Album, All Media Limited Edition Numbered Nuclear Blast - none Live At The Rock Hard Festival 2016 THRASH TIL BEER! Hangover forever! Tankard have been at it for over 35 years and do not seem to contemplate retirement. Thrash til death? Remember glorious 1986: Darkness Descends, Reign In Blood, Life Of Dreams, Lo Spirito Continua, Game Over... and Zombie Attack!! What a neck-breaking year. Zombie Attack was less dark than the other bombs, but just as essential and powerful. This album contains only classics and is by far my favorite in their impressive discography, for it also has that excellent punk edge - fans of GBH should salivate. The next two albums offer an increase in intensity and speed - Assassin level - but from the 90s on, things become less exciting. NB: none of these post-1990 releases is bad, but the early fan can only become jaded because Tankard never renovate, innovate nor rejuvenate - except maybe on the two Tankwart albums which are almost entirely punk rock, not a particularly interesting one, yet cool stuff for the NoFx enthusiast. Speaking of punk, do not miss their Gang Green cover (nor the Rose Tattoo one for that matter). Beast Of Bourbon stands out for its ferocity that almost touches Sodom levels. More good, energetic album are B-Day, Disco Destroyer and a couple of others. but but but for the last 10 years nothing sufficiently exciting has come out of the Tankard factory - like Destruction, they just release albums that have all the parameters, but not the soul. On top of that, Tankard excel at party or horror sci-fi lyrics, but every time they touch on "social issues" and other serious matters, they end up ridiculing themselves with superficial, irritating, adolescent militant crap that would make a high school punk band blush. Man, at your age, read a book or two and think for a minute before excreting facebook-level pissosophy, or keep drinking. Alright, that being said, Tankard are a pillar of the thrash metal and let's bang our heads against the zombie of bourbon! Remove brackets and unzip: [zombiefryer] !ZER Tankard ZER! |

This one brings some sweet memories... what about the 2007 "Best Case Scenario: 25 Years In Beers"? Thanx for the lot!
ReplyDeleteI usually skip best of releases. Are there unreleased tracks?
Deleteyes, old stuff re-recorded and, as I can remember, quite enjoyable
