Zer from the death star! Lovers of advanced death metal crave Stargazer forever. This is the refined stuff done by accomplished musicians (those damn bass guitar lines could be from DiGiorgio) who love composing songs more than destroying the listener's aural conduits. It is fast, dark and mean - it is death metal - but it is also memorable, virtuoso and flowing like pieces of art instead of lava and blood vomit full of nails. It is polished aggression. You might call it progressive death metal. As far as references go, Atheist comes to mind (mine at least, every tine I hear this level of mastery), as well as early Sentenced, more or less. Fans of Portal might want to hear the 1999 split - Invocation featured two Portal founding members. Another high density star in the never-failing deathiverse of triplazering madnesssssss!

  1. Will check this out. Do you like Nile? Kollias and Sanders are stand outs. Youtube has instrumental versions of "Permitting the Noble Dead..." and "Hittite..." I rate highly. (I don't know where else to find these). Sanders solo on Bandcamp for some unique sounds too. Maybe old news for the Zer..

    1. With Nephren-Ka, I became fed up with Nile's Egyptian atmosphere, could not stand all the intros etc. anymore. But I will try again. Have to try the Sanders stuff too.

    2. I'd humbly recommend Nile's newest stuff. The older material wasn't to my liking either. New drummer & refined sound. Egyptian themes leave me feeling like I'm listening to Indiana Jones or Tomb Raider scenes. Not too over-the-top. Sanders solo is cinematic too, not metal. Certainly not for all tastes. Chef de Pirate.
