See You In Hell, 1983 Fear No Evil, 1985 Rock You To Hell, 1987 Helleluyah! Now that Dio has returned to the idle state of organic matter, which mobile meat has got the best heavy metal voice? Steve Grimmett or John Gallagher? I can listen to these guys for hours. Let me go through another marathon of ultrasounds and answer the dilemma... Now really Grim Reaper is 300% classic 80s UK heavy metal, maybe not as intense as Raven or Chateaux, but close. Bang your head with these rocking albums (and then bang your head against the nearest concrete wall with another dose of Die You Bastard!). You can't be more classic than Grim Reaper! Ah yes you can, but not on Earache in 2010 - just check out 1983's "Chained and desperate" from Chateaux. This is very close to the best hard rock album of all time (and space): Steve Grimmett sings on it and delivers - as well with the whole band - a chilling, thrilling, ass-kicking, lung-melting performance that matches (if not for the marketing and PR) the best of Deep Purple/Led Zeppelin/Judas Priest/Whatever high pitched metal makes you cry for more. (Semi) Sorry for so loudly promoting Chateaux in a Grim Reaper post, but Chateaux are too underrated, it's a shame. Somebody start a Chateaux group on facebook. Also don't forget Grimmett's excellent appearance on the 3rd Onslaught album. Heavy metal til I die. CD rip. Grim Reaper on MySpace |
