Jingo De Lunch

Perpetuum Mobile, 1987
Axe To Grind, 1989
Underdog, 1990
B.Y.E., 1992
Déjàvoodoo, 1994
Fantastic female-fronted 80s German... hard rock, not thrash metal. This is high class stuff! The first two albums deploy the highly addictive crunchy intensity of the Bad Brains (I against I era) and the following three records reach out to classic hard rock without the bad plastic cheese of 80s Scorpions or Aeroschmidt. Think more about real stuff like Thin Lizzy with a touch of early Priest and Saxon - and extra big ass production. I used to hate this (thanks to band mates who could not stop playing Thirteen at rehearsals...) until I succumbed to the obvious superiority of Jingo's music. It's catchier than thou and sounds classic rock while having a very personal tone. Fist in the air! À poil!
CD rip. Underdog starts with the Upset Noise song "Growing Pains".

Official Jingo De Lunch website maintained by my old friend Luc and where I just learned that the band is recording a new album!!! And playing gigs, oh yesss. Bring them to Canada!

  1. Yes those where the days when everything was changing, Jello Biafra wasn't Dead Kennedys any more, Henry Rollins wasn't Black Flag any more, Ian MacKaye wasn't Minor Threat any more, Hardcore wasn't Hardcore any more. I liked this band, I've seen them live once, but now they remind me of the time when I started to loose my interest in the whole thing...
