Yes, Japanese heavy metal. But no, this post shall not be as enthusiastic as usual when dealing with Eastern riff makers, for this stuff is almost bad. There are good songs, i.e. songs with a great rocking heavy metal background. But there are too many awful pieces of shit radio ballads or simply mediocre attempts at a hit. Plus the good songs are invariably poisoned by keyboards and the vocals are waaaaayyyyyyy too pop, at least they have the typical Japanese vibe. I had bought the first LP because of the flying V on the cover and was disappointed it sounded weaker than Scorpions' Tokyo Tapes. I recently found a short stash of cheap CDs so gave Earthshaker another chances 20 years later, but it still does not work for me. They released twelve billion albums, I have only heard these five, maybe an exceptional release exists that I should listen to? Now back to the real heavyweights Anthem and Loudness.
